The Voice API for programmable, global calling
Build calling into your products and operations with CommLeap's Voice API. Make and receive calls, design cloud IVR flows, send voice passcodes and connect to your contact center — all through the same platform that runs your messaging, with number masking coming soon.
Programmable voice for many kinds of calls
From a single reminder call to a nationwide customer service line, CommLeap gives developers and contact center teams the building blocks to design, run and measure voice experiences.

Conferencing & transfer
Multi-party calls, warm and cold transfers, and hold, so calls reach the right person faster.
SIP connectivity
Route calls to and from your existing PBX or contact center platform over SIP.
Call records & analytics
Detailed call records with duration, outcome, input and cost, plus dashboards and exports.
Cloud IVR that routes callers the right way
Replace rigid, hardware-bound phone menus with call flows your team can change in minutes. Greet callers in their language, check their account in your CRM, offer self-service for routine requests and send everyone else to the right queue with context attached.
Because every flow is defined through the API, you can version it alongside your application code and roll changes out by number or region — and test them in the developer sandbox once it launches (coming soon). Call events tell you where callers drop out of a menu, so you can shorten the paths that matter most and measure whether self-service actually resolves the request.
- Keypad (DTMF) input, with speech input for supported languages
- Business hours, holiday schedules and overflow rules
- Text-to-speech prompts personalized with customer data
- Offer to continue by WhatsApp or SMS to shorten queues
Call masking that keeps personal numbers private Coming soon
Marketplaces, ride-hailing, delivery and home-services platforms need their customers and providers to talk — without exposing personal phone numbers or letting transactions move off the platform. Number masking is coming soon to CommLeap: it will assign a masked number to each order or booking and route calls between the right two people.
- Pairings tied to an order, booking or session, with automatic expiry
- Optional recording and call records for dispute resolution
- Masked SMS on the same number for quick coordination
Add programmable voice to the systems you already run
You do not need to rip and replace your telephony. CommLeap can connect to the SIP-capable systems your agents use today and adds the capabilities that are hard to build on legacy platforms.
SIP connectivity
Route inbound calls from CommLeap numbers into your PBX or contact center, and send outbound calls through CommLeap, over SIP.
Click-to-call
Add a call or callback button to your website, app or emails. CommLeap connects the customer and an available agent, with the page or account context passed along. Sales
Conferencing & transfer
Bring in a supervisor, interpreter or specialist, or transfer warm with a whisper message so the next agent knows why the caller is there.
AI voice agents Coming soon and voice OTP
Voice is more than people talking to people. The same platform delivers passcodes when text channels cannot, and AI voice agents that answer routine calls are coming soon.
AI voice agents Coming soon
Coming soon, AI voice agents will combine speech recognition with Conversational AI to answer common questions, capture intent and complete simple tasks such as confirming an appointment. When a caller needs a person, the call will be transferred with a transcript and summary so nobody repeats themselves. Join early access
Voice OTP
A voice call reads the passcode aloud, repeating it on request. It serves customers on landlines, those who prefer not to read small text, and cases where SMS is not delivered. Automatic channel fallback in the Verify API is coming soon, and will let voice act as a fallback step in your verification flow. Authentication
Voice notifications and recording, done responsibly
Outbound calling and recording are regulated, and the rules vary by country and state. CommLeap is designed to help you meet your obligations; your legal team decides what applies to your business.
Outbound voice notifications
Automated and prerecorded calls often require the recipient's prior consent — in the US under the TCPA, including calls that use AI-generated voices, and under similar rules and do-not-call registries elsewhere. CommLeap lets you record consent, restrict calls to permitted hours in the recipient's time zone and suppress numbers that should not be called.
Call recording with consent notices
Some jurisdictions require every party to consent to recording, and privacy laws such as Canada's PIPEDA generally expect businesses to tell callers a call is recorded and why. Play a notice at the start of the call, record only the segments you need, and control who can access recordings, with configurable retention periods coming soon. Learn more about our security practices.
Place a call with one request
Create a call with POST /v1/calls, describe what should happen as a short list of steps, and receive events as the call progresses. The same API key and webhook endpoint work across voice and messaging.
- Say, play, gather input, record, transfer and connect
- Masked calls with a single parameter Coming soon
- Call events with status, duration, input and cost
Common voice API use cases

| Delivery coordination | Number masking Coming soon, masked SMS Coming soon, call records | Logistics |
| Account verification | Voice OTP; automatic fallback in the Verify API Coming soon | Authentication |
| Customer service lines | Toll-free numbers, cloud IVR, queues, SIP transfer | Support |
| Sales callbacks | Click-to-call, call recording with notice, analytics | Sales |
| Fraud and payment alerts | Outbound call, text-to-speech, keypad approval | Banking |
Voice API questions, answered
What is a Voice API?
A Voice API lets your software make, receive and control phone calls over HTTP. You buy phone numbers, define what happens on each call — play a message, collect keypad input, record, transfer or connect two parties — and receive events as calls progress. CommLeap's Voice API uses the same API keys, webhooks and console as our messaging channels.
Which phone numbers can we get?
CommLeap offers local numbers and, where available, toll-free numbers in many countries. Availability and regulatory requirements vary by country — some require proof of a local address or business registration before a number can be assigned. We confirm what is needed for each market during onboarding.
Can we build an IVR without a telephony team?
Yes. IVR menus and call flows are defined as simple API instructions or in the console: greet the caller, play a menu, collect keypad input, look up data from your systems and route to the right queue. Changes go live without touching phone hardware.
Is call recording legal?
Call recording is regulated differently around the world. Some jurisdictions allow recording with one party's consent; others require every party to consent. Privacy laws can add further duties — in Canada, for example, businesses are generally expected under PIPEDA to tell customers a call is being recorded and why, and obtain consent. CommLeap can play a recording notice at the start of a call and lets you control who can access recordings; configurable retention periods for recordings are coming soon. Consult your legal team about the rules that apply to you.
Do outbound voice notifications need consent?
In many cases, yes. In the US, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) generally requires prior express consent for autodialed or artificial or prerecorded voice calls to mobile phones, and prior express written consent for such calls that include advertising or telemarketing, including prerecorded telemarketing calls to residential lines. The FCC has confirmed that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA, and consumers can revoke consent by any reasonable means. Many other countries have similar rules and do-not-call registries. CommLeap is designed to help you store consent, respect calling hours and suppress numbers that should not be called; you remain responsible for obtaining and honoring consent.
How does call masking work?
Number masking is coming soon to CommLeap. Call masking connects two people through an intermediary number so neither sees the other's real phone number. Once it launches, a marketplace or delivery app will be able to assign a masked CommLeap number to each order or booking; calls to it will be routed to the right party and the pairing will expire when the job is done.
Can voice be used for one-time passcodes?
Yes. Voice OTP reads a passcode aloud, which helps customers on landlines, customers who cannot read a text, and cases where SMS is not delivered. Automatic channel fallback in the Verify API is coming soon; once it launches, voice will be able to act as an automatic fallback after SMS or WhatsApp.
Can we connect CommLeap to our existing contact center?
Yes. SIP connectivity lets you route calls between CommLeap and your existing PBX or contact center platform, so you can add IVR and voice OTP — and, once they launch, number masking and AI voice agents (both coming soon) — without replacing the systems your agents already use.
